AsSIST-UK evidence to House of Commons regarding the impact of Brexit

AsSIST-UK has provided written evidence to the current House of Commons Science and Technology Select Committee’s Inquiry into the effects of the Brexit decision.

Members provided examples of the risks ahead to academics as a result of the Brexit vote. These have been compiled and incorporated into the Association’s written evidence. Equally importantly, we have outlined how the UK government could draw on members’ skills in the S&T policy domain: few of the submissions address the question of what ‘opportunities’ the vote offers. We believe that a key one is to revisit how S&T policy is made, and to do so through drawing on the policy intelligence of our community. A copy of the evidence has also been sent to the Cabinet Office.
