Why

Some of our Consultants are experienced at corporate/architecture level as well as Project Level. The text below relates mainly to project level:

This identifies the data requirements, assisting in:

· Identifying the Business Processes impacted e.g. new customer

· Identify where governance of data is required e.g. use and meaning of a particular data item is consistent throughout the business

· Effective database design for the Information System changes

· Interface requirements

· Potential Data Integrity Issues, Data Cleaning e.g. address cleaning

· Potential duplication e.g. re-keying of data

· Determining data base and storage capacity

· Migration

· Identifying potential security requirements

· Identifying potential data integrity requirements.

How

This will be determined with you, but typically:

· Review of Requirements e.g. from documentation or preferably as part of the Requirements or Business Process tasks

· Checking relationships through interviews, facilitated workshops (can be done at the same time as Business Process and Requirements)

· Provide logical data modelling (e.g. Hierarchy, Relational or Object Orientated, using tools from Visio through to Rational Rose)

· Provide data flows

· Provide interface definitions.
